About the lab

We are a structural biology research group at Texas A&M University focused on protein biochemistry and crystallography and how that knowledge can be used to guide therapeutic discovery. Our work is rooted in structural biology and has long emphasized the use of protein structures to answer biological questions and guide therapeutic development.

Over the years, the lab’s research has centered on infectious diseases, particularly tuberculosis, with additional efforts in cancer, parasitic diseases, and rare genetic disorders. Much of our work examines enzymes and protein complexes that play essential roles in metabolism, immune recognition, and drug response, to identify targets that can be exploited therapeutically.

About Dr James C. Sacchettini

The lab is led by Dr. James C. Sacchettini, Professor at Texas A&M University, Professor at Texas A&M University, whose research has contributed to advances in structure-guided drug design and therapeutic development. Under his leadership, the lab emphasizes careful experimental design, interdisciplinary collaboration, and training researchers to think critically across methods and disciplines.
